Managing Terminals at a Location

How to view, search, and manage physical card terminals assigned to a location in WIZniche POS — including terminal statuses and creating new terminals.

Terminals are the physical card readers and POS devices that process in-person payments at your locations. In WIZniche POS, terminals are assigned to a specific location and managed directly from that location's profile.

How to Access

  1. Click Locations in the left sidebar.

  2. Click on the location you want to manage terminals for.

  3. On the Location Profile page, click the Terminals tab.

The tab label will show the number of terminals assigned to this location (e.g. Terminals — 2 Terminals).

The Terminals Table

Each row in the terminals table represents one device and shows:

  • Terminal Name — The name assigned to the device (e.g. "Anything", "Counter 1").

  • Model — The hardware model (e.g. M400).

  • Serial Number — The unique serial number of the physical device.

  • Location — The location this terminal is assigned to.

  • Status — The current connectivity status of the terminal:

    • Online (green dot) — The terminal is active and connected, ready to process payments.

    • Boarded (grey dot) — The terminal has been registered to the account but is not currently active or connected.

Searching Terminals

Use the Search terminals bar to quickly find a terminal by name or serial number — useful for accounts with many devices across multiple locations.

Creating a Terminal

To add a new terminal to this location:

  1. Click the blue Create Terminal button in the top-right corner of the Terminals tab.

  2. Enter the terminal details including name and device information.

  3. Save to register the terminal under this location.

Once created, the terminal will appear in the list with a Boarded status until it connects and goes Online.

Terminal Status Explained

  • Online — The terminal is powered on, connected to the network, and ready to accept card payments. Transactions can be sent to it immediately from the Register.

  • Boarded — The terminal has been registered in WIZniche POS but is either powered off, not yet connected, or awaiting configuration. No payments can be processed until it comes Online.

Important: Terminals Are Location-Specific

A terminal registered to one location cannot process payments for another location. If you switch the active location in WIZniche POS, only the terminals assigned to that location will be available in the Register. Make sure your hardware is registered to the correct location from the start.
