Categories support a parent and child hierarchy in WIZniche POS — allowing you to nest sub-categories under broader top-level groupings for a more organised catalogue.
Parent Categories
A parent category is a top-level grouping. Examples: "Apparel", "Beverages", "Services", "Hardware". Parent categories have no category above them.
Child Categories
A child category sits under a parent. Examples: "T-Shirts" and "Jackets" under "Apparel", or "Hot Drinks" and "Cold Drinks" under "Beverages".
Setting a Child Category
Go to Items → Categories.
Click Create Category (or open an existing category to edit it).
Enter the category name.
In the Parent Category field, select the category it should sit under.
Click Save.
Leave the Parent Category field blank to make the category a top-level parent.
How the Hierarchy Works in the Register
In the POS register, items are browsable by parent category first — staff tap a parent to reveal the child categories and items within. This hierarchy speeds up checkout by reducing how much scrolling is needed to find a product.
Nesting Depth
WIZniche POS supports a parent/child structure (two levels). Categories cannot be nested more than one level deep.
