Editing an Existing Item

How to find, open, and edit an existing item in the WIZniche POS Item Library — and how changes affect past and future transactions.

You can edit any item in your library at any time — updating its price, description, tax status, inventory settings, or any other detail without affecting past transactions.

How to Edit an Item

  1. Click Items in the left sidebar.

  2. Find the item you want to edit using the search bar or by browsing the list.

  3. Click the item's name to open its profile.

  4. Make your changes across any section of the item.

  5. Click Save to apply.

What You Can Update

Every field on an item can be edited after creation:

  • Name, description, and image

  • Price and unit cost

  • Tax status — Toggle taxable on or off

  • Category and vendor

  • SKU

  • Inventory tracking — Enable or disable stock tracking

  • Availability — Where the item is sold (POS, invoices, online)

  • Variations, modifiers, and custom fields

Editing Variations

If an item has variations, each variation can be edited independently — with its own price, cost, SKU, and stock level. Click the expand arrow (▼) next to the item in the list to see all variations, or open the item profile and navigate to the Variations tab.

How Changes Affect Existing Records

  • Price changes do not retroactively affect past orders or invoices — only new transactions will use the updated price.

  • Name changes update the item name going forward. Existing invoices and orders retain the name at the time of the transaction.

  • Tax status changes apply to new transactions only.
