Terminal Customization — Signatures & Device Name

How to configure signature behaviour and device slogan in the Customization tab of a WIZniche POS terminal profile.

The Customization tab of your terminal profile lets you configure signature behaviour and the text displayed on the terminal screen. These settings control how customers interact with the device during checkout.

Note: Customization options are dynamic — the settings available will vary based on your specific terminal model. More advanced terminals may have additional options beyond what's shown here.


How to Access

  1. Go to Settings → Devices → Device Profiles.

  2. Click on the terminal you want to configure.

  3. Click the Customization tab.


Signature Settings

Ask for Signature

When a transaction requires a signature, this setting controls how the customer signs:

  • On Screen — The customer signs directly on the terminal's touchscreen.

  • On Receipt — The terminal prints a receipt and the customer signs the paper.

Select your preferred method from the Ask for Signature dropdown.

Skip Signature

This setting controls whether the terminal skips the signature step for major card brands (MasterCard, VISA, AMEX, and Diners/Discover). These card networks have generally removed mandatory signature requirements.

  • Enabled — Signature is skipped for these card brands (default and recommended).

  • Disabled — Signature is still requested even for these card brands.


Device Slogan

The Device Slogan is a short line of text displayed on the terminal screen — useful for identifying which station the terminal belongs to or displaying a welcome message for customers.

  • Enter any text in the Device Slogan field (e.g. "Station 1", "Front Counter", "Welcome").

  • The text is shown on the terminal's idle screen.


Saving Changes

After making changes to any Customization settings, save them from the terminal profile. Changes will sync to the physical device the next time it connects to the WIZniche platform (approximately every 3 hours), or immediately if you trigger an update via the Config menu on the device.
