You can apply a discount to any Virtual Terminal transaction using your saved discount library. Discounts are applied to the subtotal and reduce the amount before tax is calculated.
How to Add a Discount
In the Transaction Details section, click Add discount.
The Apply Discount modal opens.
Browse the list or use the Search discounts field to find a specific discount.
Each discount shows its type badge (fixed dollar amount, percentage, or variable) and its name.
If you don't have any existing discounts you can go to Items > Discounts and create new discounts.
Select the radio button next to the discount you want to apply.
Click Add.
The discount is applied to the subtotal and the new total recalculates immediately.
Discount Types
Fixed amount (e.g. $10.00) — A set dollar amount deducted from the subtotal.
Percentage (e.g. 10.00%) — A percentage of the subtotal deducted.
Variable amount ($) — A custom dollar amount entered at the time of applying.
Variable percentage (%) — A custom percentage entered at the time of applying.
Managing Your Discount Library
Discounts are created and managed in the Items section of the Home, as noted in the modal. You cannot create a new discount from within the Virtual Terminal — only apply existing ones.
