A Quick Charge is the fastest way to take a payment in the Virtual Terminal — enter a dollar amount, choose a payment method, and charge. No items or catalog required.
How to Take a Quick Charge
From the Home, click Take Payment → Virtual Terminal → Take Payment.
In the Amount field under Transaction Details, enter the dollar amount to charge.
The running total in the top bar updates in real time.
Optionally add a discount, service charge, tax adjustment, or tip.
In the Payment Details section, select a payment method.
Click Charge in the top-right corner to process the payment.
What the Amount Field Covers
The Amount field accepts any dollar value — you don't need to add individual items from your catalog. This is ideal for:
One-off charges where you don't have a pre-built item
Quick phone payments where the customer just needs to pay a flat amount
Create Order vs Charge
Once your transaction is built, you have two options:
Charge — Processes the payment immediately.
Create Order — Saves the transaction as an order without charging. Useful if you want to invoice later or if the payment hasn't been confirmed yet.
After Payment
Once payment is processed, the Payment recorded screen appears with a green checkmark and three options: New sale, Send receipt, and Print receipt.
